introducing

introducing: an attempt at recording musings inspired by our spring/summer '08.

5 years ago we married, it was beautiful. we dreamt of reckless adventures and a life not too crammed full of responsibility. then we went to school and bought a house and made virginia our home, things that may not have appeared too exotic but have been exactly right for us. with me now graduated and adam close behind, the time has come to step out into 'other' unknown. for us, now, this looks like traveling, vagabonding a bit, 4 months of being afoot between the western u.s. and eastern asia. our desire is that we open ourselves to the beauty and truth that we encounter, and that God continues to change our lives.

It has been our great pleasure to accompany you through part of the journey on this trek to date - you bushwacking your way to Virginia with our whistled trot behind - we will anxiously await each new installment from you of "the journey".

i love you both too much for words! it makes me so happy to see you embarking.

may the path you walk be radiant,
may your fellow-pilgrims lift your spirits,
may you forget all the injuries you've suffered,
and remember why you fell in love with each other in the first place.

may you find god in the woods, in the cities, in the rain, in the light, in the faces of strangers and in the children to whom you give a cup of water to drink.

You will be sorely missed during your travels, but I am sure God has lots of things He will show you about yourselves as well as Him and His creation. I think the people you meet will likely be the highlight. Maybe that's just because I have come to appreciate people as the image bearers of God recently. Anyway, you're on my RSS feed so I'll get all your posts delivered to me so I don't miss any! You guys rock! May the immortal God of peace and mercy go before you, walk with you, and follow you as you travel His beautiful world!

PS - If you can't figure out who this is too bad! ; )

While at Senior High today, I looked at the time. It was 2:00, so I waved as you went overhead and was immediately excited thinking about how excited you must be. May every step be infused with the Holy Spirit's.

i sat in your car today and breathed in tracy and adam, and thought how you must be sitting in an airport right now or even flying to your first destination (although that doesn't feel like the right word for it) and imagined how excited you two must be and was excited both for you and for the people and places that will get to experience you! the luckies! the journey begins!
